How and why can SecureNet save me money?

SecureNet® can save you money on your Merchant Services because SecureNet is a direct Payment Processor with VISA®, MasterCard®, Discover® and Amercan Express®. There are only a handful of Payment Processors in the United States and SecureNet is one of them.

Most resellers of Merchant Services are called ISO's (Independent Sales Organizations) or MSP's (Merchant Service Providers). These ISO's are usually Financial Institutions or Marketing Organizations that resell Merchant Services; however, they are really reselling Payment Processing for the handful of processors that are directly connected to VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

How do I get the best rates?

There are two ways to get the best possible rates:

1. Make sure you are signed up with a Direct Processor of VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover (Not an ISO or MSP).

2. Have your current Credit Card Statement analyzed by a compentant or Certified Merchant Processing Statement Analysis professional.

What factors drive rates & prices?

There are several factors that drive rates and the prices you pay to process a transaction, several of them are listed below:

  • Issuing Banks
  • Industry Sector
  • Swiping or Not Swiping a Card
  • Card Type i.e. Corporate Card
  • Average Ticket
  • AVS (Address Verification)
  • Processors
  • ISO's
  • MSP's
  • Acquiring Banks
  • # of Annual Transactions
  • Invoice Information

  • At SecureNet a Certified Merchant Services Professional who has had extensive training on providing the best possible service at the best possible rates will guide you into the program that is best for you and your business.

  • What is Interchange, Dues, Assessments and Fees?

Interchange, Dues, Assessments and Fees are the rates that VISA, MasterCard and Discover charge to the Merchant Processor in order to process a Credit or Debit Card. More specific definitions are below:

Interchange: The base "% Rate" the Issuing Banks charge the processor in order to Process a Credit or Check Card. Generally the rates are 1.54% for a Credit Card and 1.03% for a Check Card. Click Here to the latest VISA & MasterCard Interchange Chart.

Dues: The base "$ Rate" the Issuing Banks charge the processor in order to Process a Credit or Check Card. Generally the rates are $0.10 per transaction.

Assessments: The base "% Rate" that VISA, MasterCard and Discover charge the processor in order to Process a Credit or Check Card. The rates are as follows: VISA 0.0925%, MasterCard 0.0950% & Discover 0.0950%.

Fees: The "$ Rate" that VISA and MasterCard charge the processor in order to access VISA and MasterCard processing platform. The rates are $0.005 for an Authorization and $0.0035 for a Settled transaction.

What are some things I should look for on my Merchant Processing Statement?

Many times Merchant Processing companies deceive merchants by providing them with very good "Qualified Rates" (The rate you get when you swipe the Credit or Debit Card) a very bad "Mid or Non Qualified Rates" (The rate you get when you do not swipe the Credit or Debit Card). This rate differential becomes very important depending upon how you process your Credit and Debit Card transactions.
