Merchant Card Processing
SecureNet provides merchant card processing for Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB. Supported environments include retail, MO/TO (mail order/telephone order) and e-commerce (internet-based businesses). Available enhancements include voice authorization, hardware POS equipment and supplies, monthly reports and accelerated funding.
Debit Card Payment Processing
SecureNet processes both types of debit transactions, PIN (online) and signature (offline). Both deduct funds from the cardholder’s checking account.
PIN Debit
With PIN debit, a cardholder selects “Debit” as the payment method and authenticates his identity by keying in his PIN (personal identification number) into an encrypted numeric PIN pad after the card is swiped through the card reader. The transaction is transmitted through the electronic funds transfer network and the funds are deducted from the consumer’s checking account within seconds.
Signature Debit
With signature debit, the cardholder selects “Credit” as the payment method and provides a signature. The transaction is transmitted through the Visa or MasterCard networks and funds are deducted from the cardholder’s checking account. Authentication of the cardholder takes place when and if the merchant asks the cardholder to present a photo ID. Signature debit can be less expensive to cardholders than PIN debit because some banks charge users an additional fee for PIN-based purchases.
ACH Electronic Payment Service
SecureNet’s ACH electronic payment service is a true ACH (Automated Clearing House) solution that is similar to traditional paper check processing but without the associated costs and time delays. With SecureNet’s ACH service, funds move electronically from the customer’s bank account into the merchant’s account without a paper check ever being generated. Customers do not need to register - all that’s needed is some basic information, including bank account and routing numbers. ACH electronic payment differs from remote deposit capture (Check 21) service, in which the customer must present a paper check.
